Title: SJVWC Holiday Party
Post by: 6T5 square on November 18, 2020, 06:32:33 pm
After some serious discussion (  (argue\ ) the Board has decided to go along with state regulations and Health warnings. The Annual Holiday Party will be CANCELLED.

This decision did not come easy and we want the membership to know that this was done to prevent anyone from spending the holidays in the hospital.

Please be safe. and most of all, have a good Holiday and a Happy New Year.

Have you thought about getting people together on Zoom? You could encourage people to wear silly sweaters hats etc. it?s not the real thing but at least we?ll all be together. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the idea Greg. I have proposed zoom meetings to the board but I don't know how many of our members are that tech savvy.

If they can figure out how to post images on the forum, (the old way) I?m sure they can figure out how to use zoom. 🤣 You do need a computer, cellphone, or tablet with a camera though.

It?s not as easy as posting on every other site that just has an upload picture button. 🤣 John I guess you have a point there. Lots of people in this club set in their ways. It?s sort of the downfall of the club.

With all due respect; the difference between a real live Christmas party and a computer Zoom party is like Sawdust and Tiramisu... Just my humble opinion.   haha

It?s sort of the downfall of the club.

The only way there can be a downfall of this club is if we let it. We aren?t giving up yet

Downfall of this club? Always thought there was a decent turnout for the club meetings, and I know for those who are at the meeting low  % actually participate in activities, which is normal.. - kind of reflects volunteering... about 15% of people who volunteer actually sig participate. Human nature I guess. For me, this was a bad year, too many negative things happening.
This always has been a great club, always will be. No need to give up, just at times we have to persevere ... like a marriage at times - get over the rough times.

And I agree with Joe, but if the club wants to do it, i am game, as long as I am not traveling or something.
