Title: Easter Egg Campout
Post by: Beetleboi -Greg- on January 20, 2014, 10:15:42 pm
Campout at Atsion

(Campsite is Closer and Cheaper... though it is usually louder depending on the site bathrooms are outhouses.)

Campsites 26 - 34 if Shawn or Jack want 26 (closest to the bathroom) this is the dog friendly loop.

When: April 11th - April 13th

Time: After work Friday

We will leave from here to go to Breakfast with the Beetles @ Shamong Diner

Let me know your thoughts!

Atsion has bathrooms. Goshen Pond has the outhouses, and all you need to do is register the pets

We always stay on C

So is Atsion and Goshen Pond two different places or is Goshen Pond just a section of Atsion?
Is the C camping area just a big open spot for a bunch of people and dogs can go anywhere like Batona?
Is that the same spot where we saw you guys camping back in July, when we first ran into you's?

Is the youtube link broken, or does my work phone just not want to play it? It just keeps loading forever.

We were at Atsion in July. Goshen is also on Atsion lake. Its what they call "Primative" sites.

They don't segregate "pet sites" at Goshen...dogs always require leashes in any NJ campground

Ok, sounds the same as the primitive sites at the Batona camping area down Carranza Rd. I've camped there many times.

Where is Goshen pond in relation to the Atsion camping area where I saw you guys in July? Like if you turn down Atsion Rd is it closer to 206 or Oak Shade Rd?

(from 206) You just go past Atsion Campground entrance (on Atsion Rd) and Goshen is the next entrance

Date?
Do we need reservations?
How do we make reservations (if needed)?
Is it Atsion or Goshen Pond?

Just sayin...This post had a rocky start

All in fun...You're doing great!

If we're staying in Atsion (bathhouses) or Goshen Pond (primitive-outhouse)

Reaservations at http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/Wharton_State_Forest/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NJ&parkId=670056 (http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/Wharton_State_Forest/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NJ&parkId=670056)

I vote Atsion.

Oh btw they now charge $5 for walkin reservations so you might as well book in advance on Reserve America

Let's go with Atsion family Campground. Site 26 - 34 (dog friendly area) 26 is closest to the bathroom. I'd like the main site to be one of these sites, so Anthony and could have our dogs there. Here is the map:

 thumpup)-
I also think it would be cool if the main camp site was pet friendly. Especially if they check up and enforce stuff.
I just checked, someone already has site 27 reserved for that weekend.

I'm cool with whichever camping area. I personally like the primitive camping areas where nothing is laid out and you can have as many people as you want in an area and build your fire where ever, but I also understand probably not alot of people are cool with outhouses for jons.

Not another event Jack, just an activity during the campout. Water might be kind of cold, but I think my tube has a seat (forget if it's made of mesh..?..).

Is anyone bringing a bike? I know Atsion isn't as big, but we could bike to the other side by the lake.
Title: Re: Easter Egg Campout
Post by: grungeant (Anthony) on April 07, 2014, 10:42:01 am
Are the bicycle trails paved?
I might bring my bike if they are.

I think you're right about the water being too cold for tubing, but if others are bringing their's I'll give it a whirl. It's easier to bring our tubes than our bikes at the moment.

We also have a canoe too if that interests anyone.

We can bring canoe so yeah, bring ur tubes if u want.

Jack will have a huge fire waiting for us when we come back!!

So here is the plan for the Easter egg hunt. (Thanks to Tyler) if each site can bring a dozen hard boiled eggs plus the dying kits we should have plenty of eggs for the kids to find. Also bring one (or more) plastic egg with a prize inside.

Greg-

If we all bring a dozen boiled eggs, that's a ton of eggs to color, and eat, no? Each person might color 2-3. Am I wrong??

How many kids we having? (I know Max bringing 7 is a variable)

I thought we would be hiding the cheap unedible plastic eggs for the kids to find with candy in them. I can bring a dozen plastic eggs.

Didn't you see the group text from Tyler! LoL. Buying all that candy is expensive. Plus we can all take some home. I'm not expecting everybody to bring eggs. I'd rather have more than less.

Don't forget firewood!

You may color a couple eggs I may color a couple eggs seven kids could be entertains for hours.  Then we can hide them on every site and let them run around looking for them keeping them entertained. As for the hiding it's not summer heat and they won't be sitting in the ground that long and much like M&Ms the tasty goodness is protected by a thin shell so if it gets a little dirty we simply break it of or run it under water and we are good. As I told Greg not sure why the second it hits the ground it's thought of and ruined and not when you dip it in paint, cover it in glitter, or when it comes out of a chickens naught bits. Any my logic aside I'll grab the eggs and kit for our site Michelle if you and celly want to put together our mega winner prize egg since you have the plastic eggs that would be cool text me and let me know.
