Hello foodies!  =hungry

The first Dub-n-Dine of the 2024 Season will be January 25th at a Thai restaurant called "Bangkok City". It's located in the Eagle Plaza Shopping Center in Voorhees, NJ. The address is 700 County Rte 561, Voorhees, NJ. Corner of Rt-561 and White Horse Road.

I'm setting the start time at 6:30pm. Restaurant is open until 9:00pm.

I was in there yesterday and the place looks nice. Clean. Cozy but not crowded. Pricing is moderate and the reviews are good. It is BYOB and she will gladly accommodate separate checks.

Their website and menu are available at: https://bangkokcitythaifood.com/.

I spoke with the owner and she was very nice. At least a week's notice for final head count would be appreciated.

If you want to go, please let me know here with the number in your party. Thanks.

Down here they have this weird fixation with license plates. Every one covets the low number license black plates. The Governor has #1 the Lt. governor has 2 and so on down the line. People feel that the lower the number you have, the more important you are. 9(( whatever!

I myself have only wanted a black plate because I drive a black car. A guy once even came up to me at a show and said the one thing that would complete my car is the black plate. ( the current one is navy blue and gold)

So this year I decided to enter the License Plate Lottery. It is run by the Delaware DMV and it gives you the chance to win a 5 digit blue and gold plate. This is important for two reasons. You can only get the black plates through a specific outside company. You can get black market ones but they are ugly. The number on your plate must be lower than 200,000. Regular plates are 6 digits. Most black plates are 5 or less. When the Lottery opens, you register on their website and starting first week in November, they start choosing numbers. I was lucky enough to be contacted that I had won.

After waiting 3 weeks for info, I was told I could pick them up. They said all i needed was my registration, title and license. Hot dog! Sat in Motor Vehicle for one and a half hours. Twenty minutes of paperwork (?) Then told to fork over $60! What? It didn't say anything in the email about $60! Oh well, can't win at the DMV.

So I have my blue and gold 5 digit plate. On to the website. I ordered just the plate and resisted the temptation to buy the black or chrome surrounding for the plate or the clear plastic cover (40 bucks each)  but now have the pleasure of waiting another 3 weeks for the one plate to come in. All for only $125.
I keep thinking about what I could have bought in parts for the car with this money. But at least now I can die happy knowing that Ned is dressed properly and my kids have something else to trash when I go.

Yeah, I think I hasn't the pushrod tubes down to an art form now. The square taught me a lot.

I've got a nice propane heater but the wife yells if the smell comes in the house. I like doing the engine work. As you can attest to Matt, it's the laying on the ground that sucks.

You wouldn't want to move to my neighborhood. Too many damn old people😀

YEa, pretty much I do not drive if there is salt on the road... not good for German metal.
I dont do too much car work in the winter, my wife has our 1.5 car garage in the winter, so I am .... allowed.. to use it on the weekends. Also have a heater and get that garage heated up until it is tee - shirt time.

You replace the pushrod seals without them leaking?  I need to come over your place to help me with maybe some engine stuff since you have a lot of time on your hands...guess that is what retirement brings ya... maybe Ill find out in a couple years...
Heck forget visiting ya, i'll move next to you ( yes I know it will bring the local real estate market down..sorry) but if you know someone who has a lift.... well!!!...

I do drive the car in the cold months, Joe. I stop driving as soon as I see salt going down on the roads and don't start again until after a couple of good rains wash the crap off. I just took Ned on a sea cruise to go and visit George G in Ocean City.

With the winter months has upon us, some of us are putting our cars away and some are still driving. I always start my project list in September and it's stuff I need to do over the winter. Fortunately I have a garage ( no where near the Taj level) but it has plenty of room and I have several electric heaters to keep me warm so i can stay comfortable and somewhat motivated through the winter. This year I'll be removing the engine and redoing all the seals and the pushrods tubes. A little cleaning as well. I have a small wiring job to get my parking lights working and then after that the cover may go on for a while. I am tempted to do a rust repair. The left rear bumper bracket has some rust inside it and should be replaced. Luckily I have a friend down here with an immaculate workshop, a lift and he does welding. I could handle the painting at my house but it is a job I'd rather not have to do.

So the question this time is- do you make a winter list? Do you have a place to work on it or will you rely on the help of good friends? Or are you just covering it up until the thermometer creeps up a little more?

Hey since there are only about 5 of us on this website, would anybody object to me posting up random topics of discussion that will hopefully keep folks thinking over the winter months?

I know it's a holiday today but I'll start looking for responses and start posting regardless  -rofl\
