Beetleboi -Greg-

So before going to work I see that my new carb is in Parsippany NJ. So that means it comes today. When i get to work, I call the house and let them know if my box comes to call me and I'll skip the gym and go home and install my carb.

Everything is good until... DUN DUN DUN.

13 mm wrench... I don't have a 13 mm wrench. So I try the socket and because of the tight squeeze I can't find the nut.

So, I go down to the basement to my dad's GLOWING TOOL CHEST much like the soft warm glow coming out of Jack's Garage and I can't find the metric tools anyway.

Oh yeah... dad bought a bug.

So... I look around and see ALL the metric tools

Find the 13 mm wrench take off the carb.

Yay

I plug the whole with the trusty rag and scrap the old gasket off. It seemed like there were layers of gaskets.

Anyway, after I am finished scraping, I put on the carb and the rigged accelerator wire won't go through the hole.

See that the other side isn't stripped, I flip the wire over *pretty much there was clam holding the REAL accelerator wire to another wire that went to the carb* so I flipped the other wire around.

I thought... this is just calling for an explosion. So  m-d2 I'm going to have to install the new cable on Tuesday morning.

*Sigh*

Thats life. 13mm W#W most basic tool in your box. 80% of all the nuts and bolts on your car take a 13.
I don't have to go to work in the morning....

I'm gonna have to get one. Eventually I want to trash my tools and start getting some craftsmen tools.
I think I bough 150 tools for 30 bucks.  ;D

sears hardware has a nice set with a tool box for under 300.  I bought it for my dad on dad day.  It has some wrenches 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 deep and shallow sockets and ratchets.  Get yourself that and some gear wrenches and you'll be golden!

I'm on my second set of craftsman tools. Got the first set at 17 and at 44 bought the second set, I'm 58 now. Gives you some idea how they hold up! and yes I've returned a few broken / stripped pieces over the years and they replace them with no trouble. Can't beat it for the $$

Just don't loan them to Jack!!   f+t

Not Problems,  one learning experience after another!  .///  I have had my share of issues with my bug, not only have I  learned so much from those issues, I now know that the majority of critical parts are new. Try driving for a summer with out 1st gear... Oh, and drive in a parade with out it, talk about fun and clutch abuse...

Yeah my dad broke a ratchet when he was getting my axle nuts off. Took it back gave him a new one.
Also broke a craftsmen breaker bar.

Marc, yeah I understand that too. Luckily I am patient. =-) The more things break or go wrong, I learn hot to gerry rig, or fix the problem. =-)
