I had the plastic bottom of the "fuel pump riser" break on me also. It was in weezer. Since its 30 year old plastic, it "should" break up and eventually work its way down to your oil drain. You might want to dump your oil once or twice just to make sure you have it all. this happens alot more often than you think. When you go to replace the riser, really look down into the hole to make sure none of the pieces are still stuck in there otherwise you wont get the new one to sit all the way in. (The plastic after overheating and slightly melting over the past hundred years causes it to stick to the block.) BTW- when you put the new one in, be sure to measure the height of the pushrod before you install the fuel pump otherwise you'll be buying a new fuel pump as well.

I'm kinda parnoid, so I removed the motor, disassembled it, split the block and rebuilt the whole thing.
But then again, I'm paranoid.

Yep I see it now. That's the flange and there is a gasket under it. If it ain't a leakin now it may become a problem in the future. Could have cracked down inside and may need to be looked at.  Had the lower part of  one of the dang things chewed up and spit out into my oil strainer. WOW,  what the hell was that I said???  So,  now we know what the problem is someone else can jump in and advise.
Anyway, ICE CREAM, we all like ICE CREAM. You're about  1 1/2 hrs from my house and 2 hrs from others in the club.  Do I see a cruise in the future, camping, sight seening BO** BO** BO** on the way to Flanders.

Yeah I would eventually replace it. If this piece cracked there may be other cracks in it. Just be careful removing it. Sometimes, like I said before, the bottoms can crack off.
As I said before, measure the pushrod when you put in the new flange.

You have a 50/50 chance of getting it out if you use two thin screwdrivers and gently tap them under the flange and try to pry up under it. It may come out or it will brake off and leave the shaft pat in the block.

If it brakes off fill the hole where the push rod goes with grease then tap the part still in the block (I think 8mm) but I forget put an 8mm end on a slide hammer and screw in in then slap it out. The grease keeps the little pices's from falling into the block when tapping.. This don't always work every time.

If that don't work then you have to brake it up and let the pieces fall into the case but if a piece jams the cam you can do more damage, or take the engine apart like John did.

I would just snug the fuel pump nuts on the fuel pump and leave it alone. Thats SNUG if they feel tight don't do anything.
