Report To The Members On the Tri-State Car Club Meeting
« on: February 20, 2012, 12:18:11 pm »

Report on Tri- State Car Club Meeting; Feb 19 2012 at the Hilton in Delaware.

The meeting was great! Lot's of information that can and probably will affect our club for the better.

There were about a hundred participants, each club have 2-6 members-lots of clubs.

I had printouts of our club that were on the tables with all the other clubs, hawking there shows and cruises.

I left our pamphlets on the table after the meeting was over. They will be distributed at the Woodstown Swap Meet. (3/25/12)

I did my best when it was my turn to 'Stand and Deliver', that is present our club in the best light. We were one of the few clubs to get a hardy round of applause. I was quoted by the speaker on two occasions- considering that- I lost half my notes.

GREAT NEWS!. The Corvette Club is no longer running the Vineland Landis Avenue Park and Cruise Night. For those who are not familiar with this event, it is the biggest and best park and cruise event of the year. All of Landis Avenue is blocked off and cars are parked from the Circle to Sacred Heart Church, both sides (Maybe two miles?) Then you get to cruise the Avenue with no other traffic other than Hot-rods, Customs and now maybe VW's. We as foreign cars were always banned from this event. I talked to the new director and there is a good chance that VWs and British cars will be allowed this year. As a VW Club we may get our very own parking area.

Talked to John Quinn of Cruisin 92.1 FM radio. He will do a radio show from your garage. All you have to do is feed him. I was thinking  Overhauling?  One of our Meetings?   Atco Punch Buggy?  Dubs on the boards?

You can hear the Cruisin Broadcast on:    WVLT.com    Internet radio for those who are out of range.

Talked to Ben Notaro, the same fellow who is taking over the Landis Avenue Cruise. He is the main guy at Cruisin 92.1 Radio. He will do a free plug anytime for our shows, cruises, etc.  You can also buy radio time CHEAP. Record you commercial or they will do it for you. Price: for a 30 sec. spot... $12.00. A 60 sec. spot $15. No minimum, no extra charge for background music.

After the meeting, two men talked to me about either wanting or selling a VW. -I told them come to a meeting.

Everyone I talked to at one time told about owning a VW at one time or another. We were treated  graciously.

I Got a zillion pamphlets on events from the table to give to Ram?n.

PICKING SHOW DATES. That was a big discussion on how to keep conflict dates from happening. Larry, editor of Cruisin News, says a 50 mile radius is acceptable. He found that many clubs won't even speak to each other. Not so much in our area though. He says YOU SHOULD HAVE A DATE FOR YOUR SHOW SETTLED IN THE FALL FOR THE COMING YEAR. This is why now there are so many shows as late as November.

GOOD SEMINAR ON GETTING SPONSORS. One big item that works, is giving a window sticker or a certificate that the business that contributed, something can post for all to see. It would read something like  'A VALUED CONTRIBUTOR TO SJVWC CHARITY RUN ' or words to that effect.

The fellow giving the speech said that business that refused them one year actually called him the next year wanting to contribute. This was once they saw that there competitor was displaying such.

Our Cruise or Event guy, can now go on direct online and put our event in the Cruisin News.

Talked to a Camaro Club guy at our table. He is (Hopefully) going to e-mail me an insurance company in Florida that covers one day shows for about a hundred dollars.

The Hilton was very elegant. Breakfast was good but the selection was sparse.

A special thanks to Jay Seguinot for coming with me. We were the only two representing SJVWC.
