I have the Transform transaxle out of my baja.  I bought the car with a busted reverse. I drove it all around (with no reverse) even at highway speed and everything else is fine, just no reverse. The 4.86 Ring & Pinion has an unbelievable amount of pull!
I put a $375 core deposit down when I bought the new one. Before I ship it back I figured I would ask if anyone wanted it.
It's got a 4.86 Ring & Pinion, 1st 3.80, 2nd 2.06, 3rd 1.31, 4th 0.89. Stiff first through 3rd and a nice 4th for highway. It is complete with axles installed. I'll throw in the new CV boots I bought for it.
The replacement cost me $1299 + Shipping.  For $375 + cost of repair parts you'll still save a ton. Even if you paid to have it rebuilt you'd save $500
