J Pipes

[66-Ghia]

Since I have "J" pipes on my Ghia and 71 Bus I should close up the ends of the pipes
that came from the ex heater boxes, as I am not going to use them for heat.
I don't want field mice getting there.  fig2    IS THAT RIGHT?

You can fill 'em with "Great Stuff" expanding foam, Bud. If you spray 'em with a little WD40 first it makes it removable incase Global Warming is a hoax and Jake wants to hook 'em back up!

If you go crazy with the foam, your asking for trouble. Just seal them with either an expandable plug (available in the plumbing section at any hardware store) or I use aluminum tape to close mine. It also helps with cooling.

If you have trouble finding them try a "replacement freeze out plug". They come in different sizes and are made to replace freeze out plugs on water pumper engines. They have a rubber plug that expands and should work OK.

 Thanks guys I have the boiler plugs in my engine air outtake, but I didn't know they made them big enough for the "heat" tube

Sorry Bud. I've got type 3's on my brain. If you look at this picture of my motor you'll see silver metal tape on the two outside fan intakes. On type 3's they have to be connected or blocked off so your motor doesn't overheat.
