If you decide to pull the heads, check the deck height ( space between the top of the piston and top of the cylinder ) also if possible cc the heads. I've got the stuff to do both so if you need help let me know. The reason I mention this is I'd bet that engine was built with a super high compression ratio and if so that will just add to the problem.  2CENTS
