What's in your tool box?
« on: July 27, 2013, 12:18:16 am »

So I'm in the process of organizing the interior of my bus.

- Camping Stuff - Plates/Silverware Cooking Utensils, boxed cereal (it has no expiration date?!)
- Electrical- fuses, bulbs, wire, ohm meter, test light, jumper wire
- fuel items - fuel filter, fuel hose
- Spare parts, coil, points, dizzy, accelerator cable, clutch cable, fan belt

Then I get to my tool box. I have stuff in there that I've never used, but I know that if I take it out I'll need it.

Nut Drivers
Crow Bar
Center Punch
Mini Hacksaw

What do you have in your tool box in your car? Was there anything you ever wish you had in your tool box in your car that you didn't have?

Swap the nut drivers for 1/4 inch drive sockets ratchet, extension and a drive handle. Way more versatile and takes up the same (or less) space.

I'm all for the other three.

My problem is I live in one town, and my garage is in another town. I have tools in both garages. My other problem is I live less then 2 miles from Harber Freight. You know what that means. bawlin)0

the John Muir Idiot manual has a good chapter on what to keep in your emergency tool box. I've gone by that for years and have always had whatever tools I need.

That, a cell phone and a AAA card and you will have everything covered.

Spare parts are just as important as tools.... fuel pump goes, I don't care what tools I have if I don't have an extra fuel pump....

He has all the parts in the engine under the back seat, All the parts in the drivetrain under the hood, two sets of points 'cause you'll always toast TWO sets on one trip  #@rofl3

AND he has a gallon of gas in the spare tire

Oh I almost forgot... He has a fanbelt for every VW ever made, except a 55 beetle.   whistleegi
