Wiring diagrams
« on: December 15, 2014, 11:24:19 am »

I just joined as a new member. Live in Vermont but very interested in coming to some shows this summer. I cannot open the wiring diagrams.  When I go to the forum, the year numbers are there but will not display. Can someone help me with this?

Welcome.
If you can't get them to display here, try www.thesamba.com.
Look at the upper menu bar towards the right side for the "Technical" link and then select "wiring".
Be sure you have the correct vehicle "Type" selected. It usually defaults to "Type 2" when I use it.
Again, welcome

A little late in saying, but none-the-less, welcome to the club!

I understand there are some awesome VW shows up there in Vermont, been planning on attending one!

Hi Matt,
Sorry to be so late reponding. I don't know of shows here in Vermont. If you know of some, would like to know of them. Also do you have anyone in the club who is a wiring expert. I am wiring now and have a few problems, esp. the brake circuit. If you could let me know who could help me via e-mail, would appreciate it. Also shows you will be having in NJ. Thanks.

We have them cleverly hidden under the heading "Upcoming Events/Shows Information" on the main forum page.

I'm not an expert, but have done my share of car wiring. If you can't get an expert I'd be happy to try to give you some help.
Just shoot me an email or PM.

BTW, were you able to open the wiring diagrams on The Samba?

Hi Jack,
Full name is Warren Uzzle. Originally from NC but have also lived in NYC, even Ft. Monmouth, NJ during Vietnam, and currently Vermont. Ready to go south again. Sick of snow and would like to drive the beetle more.

Yes I have been using the colored diagram for 1500 VW (have 68 Beetle). Put new harness in. Have traced all the wires and numbered them on diagram, also blew up diagram to see better. Engine starts, trans in place. Also installed new relays, turn signal switch, and ignition switch. Will try diagram instructions from JBug for new relay this weekend but so far having trouble with turnsignals, flashers, etc. Also confused about the brake switch system. Need help with a few problem areas to complete.
