FROZEN PIPES
« on: February 20, 2015, 12:10:54 pm »

Nothing like waking in the early morning to your wife telling you "We have no water." Fortuitously my water pipes and meter are  in the garage behind the drill press and not out side where it was before I built the garage. I haven't had this happen to me years since I insulated. the ground where the pipe emerges. I think a lot has to do not only with the record breaking cold, but the township put in a new meter last week. About a half hour with the propane torch got the H2O flowing again. Tonight I'll keep a 60 watt incandescent light bulb a few inches from the meter.

Thanks guys for the advice. The 60 watt bulb has worked in the past. I just hope that new meter isn't prone to freeze more readily then the old ones.
