PUMPKIN RUN
« on: November 07, 2015, 04:39:17 pm »

!hug  Had a good time today at the Pumpkin Run and as always it was packed and they were still streaming in when I left at Noon, they were parked on both sides of the road for a good 3/4 of a mile.

I don't know why but I enjoy looking at the  old Junk cars then the ones in the show and especially the massive old Steam  Engines. I only have a couple of photos because I didn't have any SD cards in my cameras    Maybe Jay or Shawn will post some.

We had a couple of sprinkles but only enough to wet Rogers car, I hit rain about 20 min's after leaving the show and had rain the rest of the way home.

All & All a great day for a show.

When we left Atco we took the Cruise route that Jay had planed instead of the main Highway to get there fast and I'm glad we did.  11&* Jay found a great road (as always) to get us there and I'm looking forward to the Dust Um Off cruise to see what he has planed.
If you didn't go you missed out on a great cruise and show.
I wish I knew of a way to get more cars to attend the cruises but it is what it is.
Those that showed up at the show:
Jay, Ralph, Shawn, Roger, Joe T., Norm, Paula and myself.

For year's I heard about this show but never went. Boy did I miss a lot.

This event is unlike any car show you ever been to. It's more like a County Fair, for cars. I loved everything about the place.

The Speed Museum's dedicated to past Stock Car and Sprint racers was so nostalgic. Complete Engines of every kind that raced those days. Even Pieces of the track. Of course outside was dozens of restored race cars.

Every kind of food was available including Cape May Crab cakes and beef brisket sandwiches so large I could eat one for two days.

The flea Market was crazy. Perhaps a 100 vendors or more. I loved the old rusting cars.

The working Hit and Miss Steam engines reminded me of the one that ran the irrigation pump we had on the farm in the 40"s. I can't wait till next year.

Thanks Jay for a great scenic ride through rural NJ.

Did a little math.... They took in more than $50k. That show is a monster. Absolutely amazing.

The view from the middle. 9 rows to the left. Hundreds of yards behind us and football fields of farm equipment and big rigs to the right

While you're waiting for Shawn, here a couple of pictures of engines from one of the speedway Museums.

  Beautiful Flatehead

Here is an engine I'll bet none of you youngsters had ever seen. This engine ruled the stock car class in the early 1950's untill the Rocket 88 Oldsmobile V8 came out. It is a six cylindera Hudson with Twin H, that is two single barrel carburetors and a high compression head. somewhere over 250 HP. Doesn't sound like much now but in the Hudson Hornet it was the muscle car of its day.
