Nic?s ?not an Air Raid?

Jack and I stopped by Nic?s today to assess his car. After a little coaxing, the car fired up and sounds great especially for sitting six months. I checked the electrical and we took it for a test ride

It rode great and was very peppy Most electrical operated except for horn and backup lights. No oil leaks anywhere. Most tins and seals in place. Jack checked for trans mount play and thinks the chitter chatter isn?t the front trans mount but the Bowden tube. Couple of spacers there should put a proper bend

I think this is what needs to get done:

Relocate fuel filter to under car near tranny. Nic has a new fangled bracket that mounts to the tranny

Lube all pivot points

There?s some spaghetti wiring including some kind of anti theft device under the trunk hood. Def some wire cleanup needed.

Oil change

The wiring for the backup lights and license plate light needs either some shrink tube installed or just replaced.

The convertible rear windows are not attached. The holding brackets are broken.

Carb accelerator pump diaphragm prob stuck or ripped. It sat for six months so who knows.

Brakes worked fine. Suspension seemed fine.

Overall the car ran great, so with a few minor things, it will be perfect.

I?ll leave it to Nic when to chose a date when folks can get together

lovebus (jack):
Good job Muggy...   !hug

6T5 square:
Hey Rich- nice job. Did you write up a shopping list for the parts that he needs to get? then we can get right on it

Gunterwagen (Nick C.):
Rich and Jack did a great job! Rich and I did make a list of parts and accessories for me to pickup. I'll order them and I'll update when I receive them.

rich67vw:
Chef John, yep Nic has the list. He is very organized and keeps track of stuff on a very detailed spreadsheet.
I?d like to think this should be some easy fixes as long as we have some able bodied healthy youngins show up.
It?s a great little car and I hope Nic has years of fun with it.
Nic did mention that the car sometimes pops out of first. We can take a look at the common things to check like the coupler under the back seat inspection plate and also the stop plate under the shifter to see if there?s an easy fix hoping it?s not just worn out tranny parts like teeth or the hockey stick. Didn?t pop out when we test drove it though.
