Need a roof for a friend that's chopping a top.
I think any year will do.

While there are a couple of ways to chop a top, the classic way is to cut the roof so that the A, B pillars, and back window alien.

That means slicing pieces out of the roof to make this alignment happen.

To fill the empty spaces, the best way is to use an original roof. With its similar metal and the correct contours.

Maybe they were trying to make it into a convertible?

No, he wasn't trying to make a convertible.

You still use the original roof. You're removing 3,4 or more inches from the A and B posts and the side window. Some customizers also chop the back window. when the pieces are removed, and you place the roof back on, nothing lines up.

Think of it this way; take an ice cream cone and cut an inch out of the middle and try and put it together.  Got it?

Like I said there are a number of ways to do this, none is for the faint of heart.
