Engine Install Help
« on: September 18, 2007, 02:51:45 pm »

Hello all, I was wondering what everyone was up to Friday after work, or over the weekend??? I am going to need a hand getting the engine back in my  blu_bug .  I would love to have someone with knowedge around during this process, even if they can't help with the lifting.  I want to make sure all the wires are connected where they belong and probally some help with getting the carb working properly, since I rebuilt it  Poof ...  I can offer Beer / Soda and lunch for all who show up, even if you just want to point and laugh... 777

Thanks,

Marc

But i have a friggen wedding to go to at the shore.  Wouldnt be to bad but i dont know either the bride or groom.  Karens co-worker is getting hitched.  I am just being dragged along.  If i can get out of it i will be there.  Fingers crossed this may get me out of it.

Marc, I can probably get there after 5. I'm at least good for some younger muscle =-)
Maybe you can help me figure out my headlight problem... or if you are the guy with the switches...can help me rig up my bug. =-)

Marc,

Would love to help, but unfortunately I will be in Pittsburgh Thursday to Sunday .... If for some reason you don't install the engine this weekend let me know, I can help next weekend.

Sorry Marc but I think you picked a crappy weekend for everybody :icon_neutral:

I work on friday till late and I'm away this weekend. I know jack is hurtin (although he is in denial :icon_wink: )

Why not try it yourself? I've done complete pulls/overhaul and installs when the only help I had was the idiot manual. It might be different in your case, though (daily driver?)

sorry again bud.

Getting the engine out of the basement is the biggest issue,  I can move a transmission by myself, but an engine is another story.

I think I'll be able to get my neighbours help with getting it up the stairs and onto a floor jack, and Bob threw his hat in to help on saturday morning So I think I might be able to pull this thing off...   Bob what time is good 4 U I will plan around that.

Jack sorry to hear about your rib, you need to stop that mixed martial arts on the weekends  banasord

Anyone who is free is welcome to come and help / hang out

Maybe you can help me figure out my headlight problem... or if you are the guy with the switches...can help me rig up my bug. =-)

I have planes on saturday night, but my sunday is open if want me to help you play with the lights,  I must warn you I am not an expert like some of the members, but I am fairly good with logic....

Marc,
9 am would be good. I'm going to start tearing into my Super Beetle front end later saturday so I don't think your engine will take much time at all.

Now I can help you with the wiring & pushing it off the jack but I've got a bum shoulder so lifting it out of the basement might be a problem for me. thats what happens to us guys over 50, ask Jack! Let me know if you need anything.

Bob,
9:00am sounds good, we should be fine with my neighbours help to cover the heavy lifting, He and I got it down there, and since the exhaust will be off coming up it will be much easier, I just won't have a easy to grab exhaust pipe to carry my end...  I'll have coffee and doughnuts at the ready  P#3
