It's rolling around on the floor. My shadetree garage velcro tape didn't hold it in place where I wanted it.  :D

I was just reading some stories on TheSamba about bus fires so I started looking for Automatic fire suppression system and came across two that I like and I'm going to get and mount in the engine bay. This way when your driving and don't know you have a fire till it's too late the Automatic suppression system will know. I will still carry one in the cab for any gas that is burning on the ground.

I would like to see everyone mount one in the engine bay.

Jack,

how hot does it have to be to activate them?  is there any danger of it going off just from the heat in the engine compartment?

If you find out where to actually buy it from please let me know.  I definitely would like to get something that's automatic.  God forbid but you know what they say: luck favors the prepared

fire foe releases at 175 degrees F.  is there any chance of the ambient temperature in the engine compartment getting that high?  it seems possible since the engine gets so hot

I think I'll put a temperature measuring device (Thermometer) in my engine compartment and check it out. I think if you mounted it on the side of the engine compartment where the outside air comes in it would be ok. I don't think it will get that hot.

it appears that you don't have to mount it above the engine, right?  you just have to get the size that's rated for the correct number of cubic feet?  I definitely am going to get one of these if the temperature isn't too high in the compartment (which I imagine it wouldn't be otherwise the rubber bits and things would be smoking or something) ..it seems like too good an idea not to.  for $99 to protect against possibly catastrophic damage, it's a no-brainer.  Thanks for the link, Jack.
