Red light in dash ?

Hi guys 

I have a ? !6!
What is the red light in my 69 dash for its been on since I got her and it bugs me.  So I was wondering if you could help me out.

It's your oil pressure light, comes on when low oil pressure or if a short in the wire or bad sender.

Jack is right if its the light in the bottom of the speedo but if its the one in the center of the dash above the radio it could be a brake warning light.

Probably a bad wire on your master cyl.

Your master should have 2 "brake light switches" check the connections first. It could be a switch, connection or short. Now it also could be one of the switches or possibly the master itself. Is it on all the time or just when you hit the brake?

Its on all the time its been on since i picked the car up

If your brakes are OK it must be the wiring or switches. I think Jack posted some wiring diagrams on the home page but heres one that helped us figure out the problems on Mike Ps car last spring. See if this helps....

Ooooo be careful I read that as Mike PS car.  ;D I though to myself man, I wonder what Bob thinks about my gem.   ??? Are you sure they don't need to adjusted? My light comes on when the brakes need adjusting or when they are really wet... that might just be a bug in the wiring though.
