Litchfield Ct VW Show?
« on: May 05, 2008, 10:10:40 pm »

Does anyone know much about the June 15th Litchfield Ct VW Show? Deans telling me that this is the only event in the upper N.E. that he's covering?

Jay,

Many years ago I did the show the last year it was held it was at the old Litchfield inn.
It was possibly the best VW show I ever attended. I understand the next year it was moved up the road to the present location, a fair ground. The only show I've ever been to that started out with a 46' beetle , and next was a row of split window cars, not just a couple but a row. The flea market had everything and I mean everything! If you needed a part for a type 3 ghia it was there or just about anything else you could think of. Its a haul to get up there and we made a 2 day affair out of it with a stop over at a hotel. I'd suggest try to reserve a room now since things book up quickly.

Yeah Jay, what Bob said. It's the east coast version of a Palm Beach show. Definetly worthy of the Bugaru. But Bob is also right- make a week end out of it. If you can trailer your car up there, that much the better andmake  hotel res. now.

I'm still trying to sway Dean from H-VW to come to Punch Buggy Day to cover both the CJVWC, and SJVWC.. I should hear back from him today? The Litchfield show is only the week before Punch Buggy, so hopefully he'll decide to hang around another couple of days to cover our event?

hope he doesn't mind the heat..... Poof

seems like they only stopped covering Punch Buggy a few years ago. I remember when I first got back into this hobby both Trends and HVWs would have someone at the show and usually by Decembers issue we'd get to see an article & some pics.
