You know, once you add a few options like nice wheels - 'Oh, that comes in a package sir' or a bit more HP, 'Oh, you can only get that in the sport edition'. The end result may just climb a BIT higher shocked. It is good to have something to reach for though!

You do realize that no matter what you have done to the new beatle, it's still a GIRL's  $61$ car.

she is so right!
For that kind of cash you could build a nice restored type 1 with a big engine and still have enough left over to buy a beater for a daily driver.

DITTO all of the above. Why spend all that money on a new bug when for the same $$$ you can have the real thing, not a poor copy.

Ha ha Thanks for the back-up John! Well you can't finance an old car or else i'd get a nice fast back. I need something *cough* more reliable. Even though my bug has only broke down for things that were my own fault, it would be nice to have a new car that I just get in a drive. As long as I don't get the pink one I think it's still a guys car. A lot of ppl tell me that the old bugs are for girls too, but I always wanted one and I got it. I can take the jokes, I've been a band dork for about 15 years or so.  :)

It might get bad reviews and I'll probably end uo getting a toyota anyway.  >:(

New cars are nice, but the PAYMENTS get old very fast.

Your so right Jack. And the newness wears off after 2 years or less and always after the first scratch or dent.

Hmmmmm I guess I'll get a new car air freshener for Bridgette and call it a day.

I'm looking to spend no more than 2000 for a paint job and no more than 5 for a turn key engine.

Then I will be set!

Hoping to talk to Ann when she is at Atco see what she suggests about the motor.

Stock is ok right now, but in the long run I need more get up and go to keep the Shoebies off my tail!

Greg,
Check out Dan's Herbie -He got a nice paint job by Ramond I believe. I don't think Dan needed much prep.

Matt It was Frank, that's where I'm getting it done. Frank said that he can just spray over my original paint... if it is the original?!?!?!?!?? I just have to smooth it all out. Hoping to do it this OCT.

I know Macco does it cheap... and cheaply probably.

Right now i don't know if I'm ready for an all out new paint job, just something to hold me over till I can afford to do it right. I'm just painting the outside for now.

Then when I'm older and more experience.. and have more money I'll strip the whole car take the body off and send somewhere.

Ann suggests you throw a few 0's behind that "5" you're hoping to build a new motor with.  ;D
