I have a new Generator if you want to barrow it.

Did you try a belt with the notches in it?

Did you try putting the belt on upside down?

Greg. I'm sure father VDub considered all of the options. If it would have been made gear drive think about how large the gears would have to be? The Belt idea was probably the simplest yet best way to generate power while also providing adiquite engine cooling.

Yeah, It seems like all cars run on the belt system, and why does it have to run off of he engine. Why not run the generator off of the wheels. Cause the generators purpose is only to re charge the battery right?! Sorry I'm getting waaaaay off topic. I was just curious.  >:(

New generator won't work, Jack. I switched to12 volt.  I'm going to work with it this afternoon. I have a 38.5" belt on it and it's too loose. But when I put on the 38" belt, I can't strech it over the pulley.
I'm afraid if I put the belt on upside down, it will throw the belt.

I'm not sure if a notched belt will work. That will make it fit in the pulley, but our belts are V shaped. It won't work on the flywheel.

You've been sitting in that love bus too long haven't you? !5! !5! !5!

The notched belt will still give you more grip on the Alt.

I forgot you were 6V the 12V gen I have won't lay in the cradle correctly but it may still be better then what you have.

184 I think Raymond has a late T-3 fan housing that will accept the 12V gen. next time you pull the engine you could put it on and go back to a gen.

John. Try placing the shorter 38" belt in the oven to warm it a little before attempting to install it. It might just make it alittle more plyable to assist you in getting it over the pully. Or have you tried removing the pully from the alternator and putting it on the belt and then try installing the pully with the belt already on it?

Are you bringing this car 2 PunchBuggy? I need to get an eyeball on this thing to see how we can fabicate a better 6t5square alternator tensional.    s#r
