I figure it would just save greg some time shopping around. He could get the additional seals seperate(front seal, I would replace the trans seal while you have the engine out, etc.)

yea, a leak & missing tins is exactly how we started with Mikes engine..

Hey guys so my official start date for the Job is October 27 so I wanted to set up a date to do they engine pull...I hope you are all still willing to help.

Here are the possible dates, because we are doing this at Jack's Crib, I think he should have the most pull to when this actually happens.

All of these are Saturday and Sunday

8 and 9 *8th is Pumpkin Run*
15 and 16 *15th is Toys for Tots*
22 and 23
29 and 30

Dec Brrrr

6 and 7
13 and 14

Also Pat I'd like to stop by so you fix that hole behind the window  plndonut 196 plndonut 196

the following week I go back to working Weekends.

I also need your coffee preference Dunkin' Donuts or Wawa and between the tally's that's where I'll pick up the coffee and your donut of choice.

Pushrod Tubs/Seals
Oil Cooler Seal
Main Seal would like to put a sand seal on it I was told it keeps oil from flinging every where
All the tin work replaced if I can find it
Theromstat and hardware if I can find it

Thanks to those who volunteered to help... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE hell I might even order a Pizza!

Also if there is something that I should replace while the motor is out might as well do it now just let me know what it is and if it's a decent price I'll go ahead and order that too!

Set a date. I'll be there. Also get together with mr jack and put together a shopping list. have everything you need before the date- I've learned that the hard way.

Ahhh alrighty i though it would help keep the motor clean. Anybody know about these new lower cool tins that are suppose to replace the sleds? i cant find new sleds anywhere.  Unless i want a chrome dress up kit which isnt my thing.

Yea, they don't work! We tossed them out on Mikes engine they will actually increase your chances of over heating!

Stay with deflectors and lower tins as well as flaps in your fan shroud. All stuff you can pick up used at E-town

What the heck is a sled?? and don't say something to play in snow with!

Bob i think the sleds are just the slang name for the deflectors. im having trouble finding the main seal, is that the same as the main shaft seal for the trans? The main seal is the front seal right?  ???

No. The main seal is on the front of the motor (front is front , right?!)

the rear seal is called a rear trans seal and it goes in the rear of the transmission.


Write up a shopping list and try to make it to Englishtown. If you cant- ask your Dad for a favor ;D

John is right,
just think of the main seal as behind the flywheel. Weird but on a VW the flywheel end is considered the front of the motor. Anything else the flywheel is on the back, we drive some strange cars!

Took some lying but I got out of working sunday, i used my sister's wedding as a crutch. *halo flickers off*

All those gaskets and such do you get those from those tents with all the drawers and rubbermaid container? They had one of those tests at Atco and also at Flanders.
