Distributor drive shaft
« on: August 20, 2008, 02:58:18 pm »

Thanks for the video Jack! I think two things screwed me up. #1 the idiot manual says that the slot on the shaft has to parallel to the front of the engine. (In other words a 90 degree angle from the seam in the motor). In your video, you line up with the mounting bolt of the fuel pump which is off from 90 degrees. Then comes the second point- my fuel pump and distributo holes are the reverse of the one in the video- look-

So what I did was just turn the shaft to where you had it in the video and it dropped right in

So now I'll put the distributor in to make sure I'm lined up with #1 slot and I should be in the chips!

Thanks again

BTW- when I took the distributor out of the motor- there was no anti rattle spring. Should I have this in the early motor and if so a) do you or anybody out there have an extra or b) where can I get one? I'm wondering if this is something I can get at the hardware or auto parts store.

I think I have a spring but I forget if your engine has one. By the photo I think it should have one.
