So would you be able to cut out Bridgette in the same size text and font style as the Volkswagen Emblem on engine lid?  Cause that would be cool, I wanted to put Bridgette's name somewhere on her I thought it would look cool right under the VOLKSWAGEN logo on the engine lid. I don't really know what kind of metal you would need for the same thickness etc??!?!?!

I'm sure that I could machine it out of Aluminum without too much trouble. My car says 'Fuel Injection' - does yours just say 'Volkswagen'? I wonder if it is the same script? Either way, it wouldn't be too difficult to make up any missing letters based off of the original script via software. Do you (or anyone else) have a spare script emblem laying around I can borrow to scan? It can be a broken set too...I can make it work.

I get the impression that some of you want a topper, and others want a frame...It makes no difference to me, but I DO need a sketch or something to work from before I can do anything...  mad2

Brady,

I'm a printer so graphics is what I do. I'll try to come up with something in the next couple of days. I can base it on a topper ( or as Mike said a "bottomer" ? ) Just something that will fit a VW license plate and still clear the deck lid.

I did aluminum casting in highschool and as I remember its a real simple process. I'd think this kind of project would work out good if cast in aluminum. I've also got some buffing and polishing equipment and I've had real good luck buffing aluminum to look almost as good as chrome. Lets see what we can come up with.

Not bad Shawn,
will it clear the "upside down soap dish license plate light" on most beetles ?  I don't run a front plate and lots of guys who have gone QQ don't either so it would have to fit the rear plate.
If so that would look really good!

BB - can't make DQ, but should be @ the next meeting.

Bahahahahaha - Looks decent...except I sure wish that the SJVWC logo didn't have those flames on it...Not exactly an easy thing to machine when it all comes down to it. The other concern is the VW emblem...we can get into trouble without permission to use the VW logo. A way around this would be to purchase a VW licensed keychain with the VW emblem and glue it on.

Perhaps instead of some elaborate LC frame, you could come up with a topper...hence the reason for me asking if we had a mascot of some sort. It's a lot easier to implement than those flames...but I could probably rework some of the stuff.

Bob,
Now you're talkin...Just to keep things simple & realistic, I betcha I could machine the actual frame, and you could do a digital print that fits exactly over it. It won't be a 3D relief, but it would look good and get around the 'flame issue'.

No trouble if we're not selling them ;)

What the hell is a topper?

Type VOLKSWAGEN in your word processor with a Rockwell font and BOLD it...Look familiar?

Well that's a good font for reproducing a VW dealership sign...but not really the correct script for 74-79 rear decklids...
