Interesting..

I wonder how waterproof it would be with the top in 2 sections. If you really wanted just the look I'd bet a roll bar from a Rabbit vert could be made to fit.

I had a Toyota Sunchaser which had a similar configuration except the targa was fiberglass, and it sealed up just fine. so in theory it would work...
