Voltage Regulator, Bosch, 6 Volt
« on: May 31, 2009, 10:07:53 am »

Am I correct in that you can't get these any more?  %6% Is there a aftermarket Reg. I have been searching for one because I think mine is shot fig2  I hope not because I'm not sure I want to switch to 12 volt..Going to test my Gen now.

I am going to try and make my first meeting monday. I might need a push to get started if I don't get this sorted out. lol  S@Sm

JC Whitney has Bosch regulators

Click here for 6 Volt Regulator

And if they have 'em then AutoZone can get you one

Yea I saw them but, Boy the picture is not even close to what I have. s#r That scares me.
Is there some of you that still uses 6volt?  Has anyone ordered them from JC Whitney?
My Reg sits on top of my Gen.

I've been buying from Whitney for years. It's not unusual for the picture to be wrong. Seriously, check AutoZone... I'll bet they can get you one in a day or 2

Thanks
The one Jack linked has the right picture.   I will have to ckeck out the local places.
I pulled the Reg and cleaned it up and still no luck. :wallbash: Took out the brushes cleaned and still the same. :wallbash:
Next is to polarize the generator. I know I know  they tell you that first. @3#
I have off on mondays so I will test out the gen in the morning.
Hope too see some of you Monday night. I'll need a push to get home . LAUGH@

AutoZone.com says they can get you one for $21. Thats 1/2 of Whitney's price and CIP1 wants $125 Or you can save &15.00 ordering online!  -55]

AutoZone Voltage Regulator

Gee you'd think the VW "Specialty Store" would be cheaper.

Thank You All  WA# for all your help.  I made it home from the meeting in the dark ok.  I looked like a insect fogger with all the oil dripping
out of valve cover onto the muffler.
Hopefully I ordered the rite VC gaskets  this time.  :icon_study: I thaught they were all the same.

I put the new Regulator on from autozone last night .   :icon_cheers: I got 7.40 volt going to the battery :icon_cheers:

Cheers

Glad you got the volts flowing. 0198

The 36hp and the Bastard 40hp take differant gaskets then the 40hp on up.

It was when VW was changing over to the 40hp, I think it was one year they use parts from the new 40hp crank and jugs and parts from the 36hp, case & heads. I've only seen 1 or 2 You will probably never see one now a days.
