On that note...
« on: August 03, 2009, 10:36:06 pm »

While the topic of offending people is still fresh, I'd like to note that I did not appreciate the witty comments today about my tech session question on changing the carb settings for hotter/colder weather.   Maybe it is the fact that I actually drive my car more than 20 miles from my house or the weather I have not touched the carb since jack touched it. So something changed. Please do not be a hypocrite.

Ya know, I don't recall smoking pot last night before the meeting but I sure did miss a lot of what went on at the meeting. I don't even remember your question Greg, what was it?

I asked should a carburetor be adjusted when the temperature changes. Because haven't touched the carb since you last tuned it, and now it's running rich. *Chokes is opening*

they dont change with temperature but will occasionally go out of adjustment due to vibration or general wear. You should be able to get by with at least a once a year adjustment. Some people never adjust and dont have any problems, it depends how you drive.
As a general rule- when you do a tune up, adjust your carbs

Ya, what John said, the carb don't change with temp, except there is a change with fuel and Temp.

The colder the fuel the more of it will flow through your carb and vice versa. So it is hot and your running rich which is just the oppisit of what should be happening.

If your choke is working, look in the carb with the throttle open and see if any gas is dripping into the carb, If not, adjust it and check your timing.

It's kinda logical, if you just think about it.  ???

If it were true that carburators change every season there would be a line at the repair shop
at the start of every season.

It would be common knowledge and also it would be in every owners manual.

Yes, at one time (long before you were born) some smart-a** people (Mechanics?) circulated a rumor that you had to change air in your tires from summer to winter and back again.  LAUGH@

To Greg's point though everyone... if you laugh at members that don't know as much as you during "tech session" people will stop asking questions.  Isn't that contrary to what you preach and what we're looking to do as a club?  We want to teach people who haven't done this (as long) how to do it and not make them feel bad about not knowing. What might be "common sense" to you, is just an unknown to a newbie.

Greg, I missed you asking that question too,... Hmmm..

Sometimes I get ribbed or laughed at for the things I do / say, but what I keep in mind that even though these guys are being big jerks at the moment, they do care about and (love me, ( in a  manly way of course! - except Michele, ...cause......she's not.......well......   :icon_flower:...uh.. .. forget it you know what I am saying) In thinking this I never really get bothered - I just think how I can get even! :icon_blackeye:

& I know they like having me in the club - after all I pay $200.00 in dues ( Bob says it's the money exchange issue with Pa money)  2x a year ( Bob says 2nd installment is completely paid to NJ turnpike to clean up all the tar I'm dripping on their roads).  Well, heck I believe him!

So in short, remember, they can be jerks, but they love ya & whenever you need em, they'll help you out

 You all are completely right.

No question is stupid and with that I apologize to Greg.  @7@

But in defense, some questions that are thrown out that at first seem so outrageous that you assume there joking. So you have a snappy comeback before you realize that they're dead serious. However this is no excuse and we will definitely slow down the response.

Sorry, I come from a family of quick witty one liner responses.  fig2

To lean it out you need more air correct? I turned the big screw a little and idle seems better. Not perfect, it's soon to be a garage car anyways so it's running good enough that I won't have to worry about it till the next valve adjustment.

Sorry about lashing out, I was really stressed out Monday. I took everything out of me to get to the meeting. Then I felt like I was walking past my parents after being grounded when I went up to the BOD Table. I get to work today, to find out that we aren't working today because they had a problem in another store. They said they are going to pay us for 2 hours. There's a Lowes opening up in town, I'm going to give it a shot.

Thanks Michelle, Shawn, Matt etc for the comforting *can't think of a better word*. Things usually don't bother me but under stress like most things I break.
