Yes,
I was a Landlord for a couple years,
Like tenants are golden people.....
Do not do any repairs on your own, if whatever you hookup leaks or what you will be held liable for any damage, - if it can be found.. If you flooded your downstairs neighbor, you could be WHACKED big time from your landlord for water damage. Doesent take much water to hurt things.
Contact your landlord and give him a chance, it may be low on the list of priorities if he owns a complex, but he should do it. It is a faulty unit. Keep bugging him and keep doing that bugging him. If he says you can do it, put it in writing, you write it up and include you will make the utmost cautionary steps to ensure good workmanship, but you will not be held responsible for any leaks that can cause any damage
There are some good Landlords out there, and I could tell anyone stories about tenants - all being horror stories..... Out of about 8 diff people who rented from my firends and I, only ONE person took care of the property and paid their rent!
We even gave free pizzas, sodas and chips to people if they paid their rent on time for 4 months straight!
These were "well-to-do " middle class people, no section 8'ers.
I should write a small book..........
