Dude! STOP

You need the diverter... It's NOT a Y connector. It is a special device that shuts off the faucet when you squeeze the sprayer trigger and most importantly regulates the PRESSURE going to the sprayer! Hooking it directly to the water supply line is a BAD idea
The VWs you can sleep in are more gooder

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, The kind that can count and the kind that can't.

Here's my take on this.....  Sink originally had a faucet w/ sprayer.  The landlord replaced the faucet with one w/o sprayer.

Faucets that accommodate the sprayer have a built-in diverter that the hose attaches to...... If you want a sprayer, ya gotta get a faucet that is setup for one.

I guess I have to talk to the landlord about replacing the facet... unless I want to deal with not having a spray. Just think it's tacky to have it there and have it non functioning. I'll talk to the landlord about replacing it.

you obviously havent dealt with landlords. He's probably not going to give a rats a** if you dont have a sprayer.

Just buy the part and put it in yourself- no need to tell the landlord

check your lease first!! if you screw it up you could be libel for any damage or possibly returning it back the way you found it.

Yes,

I was a Landlord for a couple years,

Like tenants are golden people.....

Do not do any repairs on your own, if whatever you hookup leaks or what you will be held liable for any damage,  - if it can be found..  If you flooded your downstairs neighbor, you could be WHACKED big time from your landlord for water damage. Doesent take much water to hurt things.

Contact your landlord and give him a chance, it may be low on the list of priorities if he owns a complex, but he should do it.  It is a faulty unit. Keep bugging him and keep doing that bugging him. If he says you can do it, put it in writing, you write it up and include you will make the utmost cautionary steps to ensure good workmanship, but you will not be held responsible for any leaks that can cause any damage

There are some good Landlords out there, and I could tell anyone stories about tenants - all being horror stories.....  Out of about 8 diff people who rented from my firends and I, only ONE person took care of the property and paid their rent!

We even gave free pizzas, sodas and chips to people if they paid their rent on time for 4 months straight!
These were "well-to-do " middle class people, no section 8'ers.

I should write a small book..........

The more I think about it I might just suck it up and deal with the non working sprayer. =-( You know me, I don't like when things are difficult or time consuming. I though maybe the hose was just disconnected, I think Paul? was right about it being a new spicket. Oh well.
