What did you do to your VW today?
« on: September 26, 2009, 11:29:27 am »

With all this talk about plumbing and going to Germany and pulling motors on foriegn water cooled cars, I'd like to start a thread (that I hope Mr Jack will make into a sticky) called "What did you do to your vw today?"
Now in this thread you can post whatever you want, as long as it is related to working on your VW. It can be as simple as "I cleaned out the ashtrays" to "I got bored so I pulled the motor out". Just daily stuff so we know you still have a VW that you care about and are not just letting it sit around and rust away.
Several of the samba sites have a similar thread going. Its a way for you to brag, ask questions, show your smarts or maybe even learn something new.

I'll post a quick one
Today, I have to change to valve cover seals on the ghia- I gotta leak that needs attention. If I get time- the square needs the carbs tuned so hopefully I can get that done also.

ok- next!

Worked on the Bradley gas tank, cut the holes and tapped them for screws for the gas tank sender. No fun since no matter how careful I was I still got chips in the tank grease on the drill & taps didn't help.. Had to flush it out with water so now I'm waiting for it to dry out..

Maybe not in the truest sense of the word. It is the rear piece of a Baja kit and I call it that....

Took the 71 Bus out to the store, dirty as chit came out to find 3 people taking pictures of it with cell phone cameras. Had the package I got from Andrew (PO) on the front seat, laid the picture (one of many) of Cheech & Chong along with the Cal. tag, original sale papers etc.
Got asked a lot of questions. From the package I got, looks like
Danny isn't the only one with a "MOVIE" VW  @7@       Good thing Joan had company today  :icon_cheers:

So I filled the tank up then took it for a short ride around one of the developments we have near by~ wow do people like old (dirty) VW buses, got lots of ideas for it from them  $61$ :icon_flower: Now Holly is in for some really fun art work  LAUGH@

The back part of the Baja kit is the "Tailpiece"

Bob... pour a few ounces of rubbing alcohol in, swish it around and pour it out. It will displace the water and evaporate almost instantly

OK John...I shot the flat areas of the Meanie in "Tractor Paint" and helped 2 club members with their efforts. A good VW day

(On "Old Blue") Fixed at last, the lights in the speedometer that tells me the flashers are on. Also fixed the oil pressure light. Next - Get the electric oil pressure guage to work.
