thanks Pete,

Funny thing is the tank won't be visible in the engine bay. I'm working out a stainless steel surround that will hide most of it.

Thanks Yuma!
the surround is really for looks, I've got a big space in the front wall so the engine can get fresh air. Its weird when you are working with a VW engine outside of a vw body, you have to remember why things like the body seals were used. When I get it all back together the reason for all the fancy metal work should be clearer.

My biggy for today was to lub up the speedo cable.
My wife and i went cruising the other day and  the
speedo was going from 50 to 90 and back and forth.
got out my can of PB blaster and lubed the cable.
Hope it works  c23

This was yesterday but, I figured out my altenator problem was not shimms!  @7@  It seems that the hub that goes on the shaft for the fan has a smaller outter dimension for an altenator... My hud from my generator was too fat... so when  Itightened it would bind on the altenator housing...   time to order a new hub... :wallbash:

Checked the oil, cleaned the chit out of the trunk... only to put half of it back in. Fixed my E-brake that came apart on a hill. You would thing they would have solved the problem by now. Went to a cemetery to get some eerie shots of the bug in amongst the tombstones, but the memory card was malfunctioning. Packed it for the weekend. It's time for a tune up, I know it's easy but I find it annoying and I get to paranoid about it.

Yeah it was just out of adjustment and when I pulled up the claw came off of the cog or whatever. 5 minute fix. No biggy.

According to VW experts, not me,you should adjust the rear brake shoes first, than adjust the e-brake.

Yeah I know, but I was lazy and dad's car was in the portable garage. This will hold me over till I can adjust all 4's. I think that's the one sign that your brakes need ajusting when the e brake launches the button out the front.

LOL  I pulled mine a bit too hard once and had to take it apart in the home depot parking lot to get brakes free again...  stoned#

Cleaned out the Bus from Sunday's Volleyball BBQ at the park. The Bus has a nifty BBQ aroma along with more sand.
