Update on engine rebuild
« on: October 27, 2009, 11:45:11 pm »

I spent some time with my mechanic and he finally has the car running.  i assembled what i could so i could learn. and here is what i learned.
The first guy who had my car for so long broke the muffler and i need a new one, he also drained the gas and left me with an empty tank.

I drove for about 20 miles with no obvious leaks and more power since i went to a 1776.
only time will tell now how everything really is.

Did you get the carbs on there yet? It's much easier to get the intake manifolds on there before you put the motor back in...

Brady,i will stay away from the duals for now.  i have been thru to much to start playing with them now.
I was actually given a brand new 34/3 from my mechanic. we put it on and everything seems good.

My 1st oil change will be tomorrow and yes i will be given a discount on the oil.
i am pretty sure the new carb and the oil is a peace offering for the nonsense of the past 4 months.

hey Marc1

Nothing with the engine, it loved to run

Lots of rust inside the body, and outside ( I could replace my regulator from my wheelwell for starters)

I am really hoping to take the body off next spring/summer....and work on it. It will be a fun..uh.. challenge....

Let me know how yours holds up!  Did you increase the jet size in the carb?

REAL, REAL  Real  easy to do, and makes a NICE diff with performance with the 1776, though it decreases the mpg a bit....

Matt

was that "Mains or idles", think the idle stock is .55 and main is .130 thats on a 34PICT-3. If I remember I'll check my books but I think thats close. You could up the main 1 side at a time and see what that does.
