Formula Vee???

Well i got another vw but i am a little confused.... it is a standard and not a super and says formula vee on the side. the car is all original except the floor pans which have been changed and must be again. the motor is all stock. turns but i didnt try to start it yet. anyway my question is what is a formula vee exactly and how do i know someone did not just slap that sticker on there. anything special about these???? a few months ago someone posted that he was parting 4 vw out. i got the vee, then went back and got the other 3 for parts. going to fix the vee either way but would like to know if it is.
