Hi all
Does anyone know if any members can help me install a 3.5qt oil sump in my 73 ghia vert. It's not that I'm inept just disabled and have a very diffucult time getting on the floor to do this type of work. I'm in Manahawkin.

Hi Bob, it's not a real easy job to do laying on the floor but if you can't find anyone up your way to give a hand let us know again.

Are you sure you want that big of a sump on the ghia, it is going to be almost draging the ground the Ghia is low to begin with. If you have a friend to hold it up to the bottom of the engine and then check your clearance. You may want to switch to a 1qt sump. Just something to check before you do it.

 Yea, along with what Jack said, you will have to be very careful of debris, bumps etc that will want to take off your oil sump as you drive......

Hey All
I was kind of surprised to only get 2 responses to my help question. I tried pricing it out to mechanics in my area as I couldn't find anyone to lend me a hand. Mechanics prices range between 200.00 and 300.00  to do the job, kind of pricey for me.
I guess I was just hoping that there was a fellow member that was willing to help out

Hey Bob,

You did have alot more responses, it just that we had another crash here and it wiped out probably 6 responses. you'll need to check in more often. I remmember most of us were trying to talk you out of that big a sump. your going to have very little ground clearance and will probably end up ripping off the bottom of the motor with some of the lovely roads we have around here. I know you got the part for near nothing but you may want to think about a 1 1/2 qt sump or tell us again why you think it's neccesary.

Did you do what I asked and put the sump up to the bottom of the engine to see how much clearance you would have to the ground? If you ask for help you could answer our questions.

This is'nt a one or two hour job and it's a pain in the a** just to replace all the studs with the longer ones espically when you really don't need it in the first place.
