Final Phase of the Wartburg's Trifecta is now complete
« on: October 04, 2010, 04:35:38 pm »

Well the saga of the Wartburg comes to a close as the GRM challenge ended Saturday.

Overall we were "team average" running solid mid pack at all we did, but mid pack in this pack aint such a bad deal for our little mutant.

38.4 in the autox (FTD was 32.3 for reference)

15.53 in the drags, lots of people lined up against us looking to have an easy run and got to see what the back of a wartburg looks like real quick.

There were 2 other entries in the "crapcan class" which was for Lemons and Chump cars.  The other entrants were from Chump.

I'm happy to say that we took home the hardware to defend Lemons honor, as well as our driver Chris(Sonic) taking home the honors for the fastest reaction time in the drags with a .007 light.

We were one of a small handful of teams pulled aside for a private photo shoot so we're hoping for a feature.  And we managed a fairly convincing burnout photo too :)
I'll put up some better photos as soon as I get them.  As usual I was too busy with the car to take any pics of my own.

She's already tagged QQ, just haven't had time to take her out.

No sways, need's em something fierce but with the restricted budgets for the events I couldn't find anything that fits (the front is very narrow) Now that Im done with the budget crap Im going to do it up right (after a nice long break and another side project, MGB with a 5.0 V8)

In that video we had a pro driver in the car, it was amazing how well he did with it.  After his first run we asked if we should make any adjustments for him and he asked for a rudder since the car doesnt just roll, it lists.

Jim, you always end up with a very cool car when you and your team are done and best of all they run good.

Thanks all.   Now that all the budget events are done Im going to take a break from her for a bit and then start redoing things without the budget limitations in mind, including finishing the body and a real paint job.  Why yes, the roof is painted with rustoleum ;)

Going to start looking for some sponsors too as I think I have one more thing to do with the car.

If by chance you are in part thinking about the car, I like the paint on the car in the link, but I hope you do not go with an air spoiler, too much overthetop, little gawdy in my opinion...

Im still a long way off from doing it.  It's going to require finding actual sponsors, its a bit higher dollar than my usual events, but yeah, it looks like a blast.  I'll just run in the grand touring division not the full on Targa, I have a slightly higher sense of self preservation :)
