Burning Man
« on: October 06, 2010, 10:13:15 am »

Not Sure how many of you have heard of Burning Man, so thought that I'd share the info.

I have some friends in Cali that recent attended the week long BurningMan celebration, they normally try to attend each year and this event has grown to oer 50,000 party goers.
BurningMan is a modern day version of Woodstock like celebration of Summer Solstice. It is held in the Playa dry lake area of Desert in Nevada no human residents live here year around but for this week long event this spot of Desert turns into a well organized small city complete with streets, etc. By the way each year the theme and all street names change. It is a well organized event where once you arrive the only means of transportation is by foot or bicycle with a max speed limit of 5MPH. It is a carry in, carry out what you bring event, yes even waste water, septic, etc, etc it is what is considered a L.N.T. meaning "Leave No Trace" of human intrudance. The key here is to return the Desert to it's natural state at the end of the event. Kind of amazing how the event coordinators can turn a tumbleweed desert into a small city and then back to nature again after these fools party hardy for a week straight mostly partying at night sleeping by day with 100+ degree temps in the day and cold at night, gees sounds like fun doesn't it. No trees, no shade just heat and dust. Anyone want to join in a roadtrip next year. Hey they even have a large VW Section / Village. Plus the worlds largest VW splitwindow Bus. It's kind of a celebration of freedom of expression and life. By the way clothing is optional, Check em out on youtube Freaken Hippies.

Hey Strapper I can picture you at this event, hell dude it's got three of the things you Love, Big BondFires and VW's use your imagination for the 3rd? But I know you'd have a smile on your face all week. If we can get a few trippers together who would like to make the Run, I'd be in for it. I can probably hook us up with some housing etc. Plus we can stop and see Sony in Yuma for some real heat on the way home.
