sticky carbs
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:52:28 pm »

Hey all

On the way home from slowriders I was having issues with my carbs. (had to stop on rt 70 cause the throttle was stuck at about 7000 RPM's)At the show Jack and I talked about it and he suggested just spraying all the linkage points with lube. Of course, I ve been sitting around overthinking this and was wondering if instead of just spraying the gunk, why not take the carb out and spray down the linkage points with carb cleaner to try and get some of the crap out.

Tell me what you think.

John,
Unhook the linkage to be sure that's the problem. It could be carb throttle plates or a cable hanging up. What I'm trying to say is use the process of elimination from point A, the gas pedal to point B, the carbs. You'll find it some where in between! 7000 plus RPMs good be very bad for your engine????
Good luck,
Bob

Greg, your a hooligan.

Yeah Bob, Jack told me it was probably the throttle plate that was giving me issues. I sprayed down all the outside linkage before I left for the show. I guess what Im really wondering is should I clean or lube or clean and lube.
