Last Tuesday Katie was doing her cheer-leading practice, and part of that requires her to be launched up high into the air, well she went off on an angle and her spotter/catcher bailed out on her.
She hit the mat hard which resulted in her shoulder becoming dislocated, and the ball on top of her arm bone ( which is part of the ball and socket system) broke off. She was taken to a nearby hospital then transferred to Dupont Children s hospital in De. She had surgery and they cleaned out bone chips and amazingly rotated the bones and put things back together. After the fall, you could see the ball of the bone in front of her shoulder -

You can see the two long screws that go through her arm to the ball on top of her arm bone, and both are now back in their socket. She was a real champ  }sleepba} about it tho' her arm was swollen like the incredible hulks!
To save money for the surgery  I did not opt for the stainless steel screws , but brought along  and had the surgeons use engine connecting rod bolts. They do just as well.
She'll' be setting off the airplane metal detectors from here on!...
She would have been much safer if she was working on VW's!!!
She's doing well now..well with the pain killers...
