hoses
« on: March 04, 2011, 06:13:26 pm »

hey all,
so I'm replacing some of the hoses on franks type 3 fuel injected motor. My question is simple. if fuel is not going through a specific hose does it have to be fuel injected hose? There are 3 breather hoses- two from the heads to the aircleaner and another to the crankcase breather that do not carry fuel. Can this be standard fuel hose and not fuel injected hose? The 7/16" FI hose is impossible to find (please dont send me a link)

ok thats all

I have been using coolant hoses for the non fuel lines. They work.

My thinking is that fuel injection hose has an extra fiber layer (much like a tire) for higher pressure.
Since there  is no or little pressure for your application, what need is there for the extra expense?

Way back when, I always used the same hose as the beetle you don't nee special hose..

for my fuel lines, now I use fuel injection hose from Auto Zone for all my hoses. it has an extra blue plastic liner in it that is very strong. Your getting a link if you want it or not HERE

That blue liner tubbing is the stuff you want for todays gasoline.
That is according to a Hot Rod magazine article.
The EtOH and the new lower emission additives rake havoc with the ordinary rubber/synthetic hoses. They cut the life expectancy of the old rubber from years to mere months.
