Havent seen one of those in a long time!
I thought 71's had the diaphragm clutch, so I check Clymers, says..... "coil-spring clutch for 61-70, diaphragm spring clutch ( since 1971)"
from the Haynes Manual ?
"All Volkswagens with a manual transaxle use a single dry-plate, coil spring clutch (1972 and earlier models) or a diaphragm spring clutch (1973 and later models."
some 71 beetles can be considered 70 - but if what you have worked for you, use the same. Just match it up - fi you can't...
