Greg's Views On the "Girl's Car"
« on: September 11, 2011, 07:11:11 pm »

So I just bought a 1990 Volkswagen Cabriolet. A Girls Car, or a "Hair Dresser's Car" as my boyfriend Matt tells me.  3#blab# I learned at a very young age, to take what people tell you with a grain of salt... I probably messed that saying up but I'm too lazy to google it. The ride is fantastic, you can fly around corners, and it's such a great experience to drive with the top down, and hear the cicadas over the rumble of my tuner exhaust tip... 347 is one of the most fun roads to drive on. There are still some quirks to fix, like the lack of heat, a temp sensitive starter, a leaky gasket, and a new top. Sure I could have waited 5 more years to get one in much better condition, but next year I'll be over-the-hill as I reach my 30 mark and I wanted some fun to drive to the shore. I can't wait till I get a chance to drive it again, this might even be the car to get Matt into the Volkswagen world... I think he was trying to have me drink up at the bar last night after the show just so HE could drive home.... nice try!  &^beer&

Did he? ..... Yes he said Bus.  there may be hope for him yet. who knows maybe next year at DOTBs we will see him in a tricked out bus with a couple easy bake ovens in it handing out cupcakes to help persuade the judges.

Best of luck with the car bud cant wait to see what you do to it.

I have always heard/said that the Cabrio is a "Girl's Car" too.

Interesting observation...

In the last 4 DOTB shows there have been about 20 different Cabrios entered and NONE were driven by girls.

Enjoy your new car

Congrats, cabrios are fun little cars that usually sell cheap due to the 'chick car' stigma.  Have fun with it.

I just recently decided to indulge in some top down german motoring myself.   Im 40 now...I get to upgrade

I just want to say that Greg's vert is not a girl's car for many reasons.  1)It has the cool grill on it with the extra lights  2)I'm out of reasons.  sorry Greg.

If you want it to be Manly Paint it black put a killer stereo in it and nice rims.  Stay away from flower seat covers and pink paint. Don't put a Mary Kay sticker on it either. unless that's the look you want.

I hope you have fun with it and good luck.  Do want you want. just don't make it a Taxi

Everyone knows that the new beetle is a girl's car ......... **^bana0

Keeping it a stock as possible, I think something that will let me put an aux in through the antennae. The stock speakers are chit, gotta replace them.
