Strut tower Rust?

Looking at the MugBig today, I noticed some rust on the side of the strut tower - inner fender - whaddya think?

Need a shot pulled back to see the top of the strut tower where the bearing is in relation to the rust.

Don't look like it's in a critical spot but should be cut out and new metal welded in.

If It's near the strut bearing the sooner the better.

The longer you wait, the more falls off, the lighter the car, the better gas milage you'll get.

I waited so long I went from 4 wheels to 3 wheels. &^rofl

It looks like it's rot and rust! You need to replace the rot with new metal! Sooner would be better than later!

Just had to do that job on a friends jetta, and I gotta be honest, theirs didnt look half as bad when we started.

Cleaned out the bad



cut back to good metal



Fit a patch



Weld ugly (I was working with flux core..ugh)



paint



The car's a beater so we went for solid, not pretty.
