Passenger mirror tip
« on: November 29, 2011, 10:04:53 pm »

So. I'm looking to put a passenger side stock mirror on the MugBug that will help me see "The Strap" and others crawling up my bumper when I'm cruising along at 30 mph with my brakes stuck on. Anyway, I've learned that MOST newer bugs ( I say MOST) don't have that nice little welded nut on the inside passenger door frame. Given that, seems a good way that folks do this to mount a stock VW mirrors is:

Get an external mount kit for a Ghia ( part # C16-143-000) - This thing screws into the door frame with two screws and a seal.

Get a convertible stock passenger side mirror (( part # VWC 151857502) which has a shorter arm than a stock left side one)) and screw it into the bracket, Done and go take a long JackNap.

Hoping that Mrs MugMan reads this and fills my stocking with some parts... =bana4_+ =bana4_+ =bana4_+ =bana4_+ =bana4_+

I like that idea!  Maybe you should start a new thread "List for Santa's Helpers" &^rofl

I need tips on getting that mirror to stay adjusted!  Hubby has tightened that thing a zillion times and as soon as I drive, it gets pushed in!   &(rage_

I love adjusting the mirror to what I think is the right position,  running to the drivers seat, sitting in it, saying  censor++.gif,  getting out and doing it all over again..... several times...   #@rofl3     Must be quite  a sight...  &^rofl

Heather's idea about the Santas Wish List is a great idea though...

Two places to tighten - on the bottom nut to tighten the swiveling, and one nut on the inside shaft...

may just be stripped...

I haven't even opened them yet... I figured I'd let him do the honors, and then maybe I can get in there and get my hands a little dirty!  Don't want to ruin my nails though...  &^rofl      Have to tell you though,  if there's a lot of torque involved in getting something loosened up I'm leaving that to him.  He's more of a  man than I... me....      #@rofl3
