SJVWC folks, I am doing a benefit for Isabelle, a visually impaired 8 year old friend I met right after I got my cornea transplant about 6 years ago. I've committed to her parents that every year I would do something usually very stupid in an effort to raise funds for the Foundation that reseaches a cure for her disease. I also do these events to get folks aware of our dinner each year; we have a dinner in Blackwood NJ in October - I believe this year is October 5th, 2012. Last year, you may remember a certain picture of me floating in the ocean with her in February in a pink costume.
This years event is on Saturday,
February 11th, 2012 from 7pm to 9pm at Sports and More in Deptford NJ off of Delsea drive, about 1/4 mile north of the old Five Points diner, now called Seven Star diner. I've petioned the Guiness Book of World Records for acceptance to set the world record for most blind-folded basket ball foul shots in a 5 minute period. $5 admission, with the only item sold are tee-shirts at $10 a piece, where 100 percent of the funds go to the Foundation for Retinal Research. Try Blindfolded free-thow shooting yourself for a 1 minute trial for 5$ with the help of my support team. We have beet witht he Brass5 from the Philadelphia Freedom band, and we now have the entire facility to have access to things like their tumbling room for the kids 10 and under chaperoned by their volunteers. We are also trying to arrange a guest from the Philadelpia 76ers basketball team. An auction too. I can tell you there will be Flamingo Poop up for bid! The most important VIP there will be Jackwagen who has volunteered to be the "Official videographer" for the event, called " See the Light at Night". We also have a photograher coming and maybe some other things like a raffle (maybe even some flamingo poop) for some stuff. We are also letting folks try the event for a minute for a nominal 5 buck charge with all proceeds going to the Foundation.
Info will be posted on our website
www.isabelleseyes.org shortly about the event once I get a moment to update, but the story of me and her is out there for those to read.
Please help me out for this special kid, We will also have her sing her favorite song, as she has recently recorded a CD because, quite frankly, the kid knows about 200 songs from everything from James Brown, to classical, to rock, to GaGa toanything. I'm expecting a great turnout from folks, as we've has almost 200 folks behind us sometimes... =+grouphu9
JoeT, this is my organzation that Kathy wanted to attend the dinner last year with her group, so I would appreciate if you can point her to this post.
Thanks for any help you can. I'm planning on adding more stupid stuff that I can think of shortly to that night.
