To Restore or not to Restore, that is the question...
« on: April 25, 2012, 09:55:27 am »

And from finally getting a serious look at the car, I think I know my answer...  bawlin)0

Ok, here are some photos of the extensive rust on my 74 super.

IF it were to be restored, it looks like it would need at least  the following metal work:

Battery tray
Rockers on both sides
Lower Frame Head
Firewall
Both front pan patch panels
both front inner wheel housings
some work around the rear driver jack point

So it looks like I have a parts car instead of a restoration candidate...

to answer the question-

what does the car mean to you? If it was a relatives car or your first car, thats your incentive to restore.

If it's just a car you picked up because it was cheap and you have no attachment- I'd part it out and use the cash to sink into other projects

what John said.  There have been cars in worse shape that have been restored beautifully -  just depends on your determination and how much time you have in life...........

If they only have used some tar............

Dude... walk away from the rust... Frame is toasted...

Anything can be fixed as time/money will allow, but if there is no attachment I would walk away.

It's actually a pretty decent parts car.

Yep, I am walking away, it is too far gone for me to consider, now if it were a split window bus, I'd put the effort in...
