What's the deal with them?  I heard some years the engines were no good, or at least not ideal?   Would that one fall into that category?  I'd love to own one of them to go to the races in.

First couple of years Air Cooled, 83 Up, watercooled

The head gaskets need redoing every 80-100k. No Biggie.
I own one (used to have 2), they're great to drive.

More maintenance than a beetle but where else can you get a fully equipped RV ('cept no john) that gets 17 miles per gallon?

i was getting 23 miles per gallon on the ride home from GGB8
