Valve Replacement
« on: September 13, 2012, 09:10:13 am »

So the good news is this is not for Hooch.  Bad news is this time im the one going in for the over haul.  Since some of you are alrady in the know and other prob in the dark i figured i would toss this up here to update some and fill in others.  Couple weeks ago i had my yearly check up and was told that my Aorta is norrowing and they would like to replace it within the next six months.  So with that news i did what any one else in my shoes and tried to put it out of my head by floating down a river drinking till i dont remember turning my tube back in. I did how ever fair better then some who fell asleep while the band was playing that night  &^rofl.  So any way i had my follow up yester and got a little more information.  to save typing below is a text my pops sent out to most of the fam.

Surgeon confirmed that Ty will need a replacement valve, but wants to do a CAT Scan to see if their is much narrowing of the aortic artery beyond the valve. He didn't see any damage but noted that the valve opening is .7cm and should be like 1.3cm. He recommended the mechanical valve over the tissue valve for younger people like Ty (tissue only lasts 7 to 9 years and mechanical 40 plus).
However the Mechanical valve requires blood thinners.

Echo is Friday 9/14
CAT Scan is Friday 9/21
Surgery some time in November.

SO to fend off some of the obviouse questions i am having no symptoms i feel like my normal self. Down time should be minimal i will be in the hospital for 5 days for the procedure and observation then prob home and on the mend for 6 weeks.  Doc said at that point i should feel fine and prob my biggest prob will be following the rules he sets up for me to rest.

So if anyone has any questions i should be asking or info i may need for this whole ordeal please chime in.  I mean i trust this group with my bus and as most of you know i take better care of that then myself lol.

I will keep this post updated as i get updaets so you are all up to date with whats going on.

All I have to add is I will pray that it goes great and I'm sure it will.

You say that you feel like your normal self, well with these numbers (.7cm and should be like 1.3cm) you may not know what your normal self really feels like.

I can see a sjvwc hospital crash in your future #@rofl3

ha ha good point i was actually worried about that i mean if i have this much energy and strength now when i get the full 1.3cm will that turn me into the A.D.H.D. kid on crack that is my brother lol.

And george actually asked me about the hospital crash at DOTB.  he wanted to know who was driving hooch in when i get discharged to pic me up and if it was going to be a lone bus or a caravan.   {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}] {[busbu}]

But everything going to plan i see allot of over hauling where im handing wrenches saying its therapy like mug man.  watch out jack i got my eyes on the comfy chair  **^bana0

Tyler, you know you'll be in our deepest thoughts   =+grouphu9

Your comment about taking care of your bus better than yourself struck a chord in the MOM in me.  Please do what your doctors advise and take better care of yourself, otherwise the MOM in me will have to come over and open up a can of whoop  ?/moon2..  on you!!!!   %$oldcit

Jefferson.

Its kind of a different experience when its where you work I expect more then just a flood of SJVWC because of the areas I have worked and I'm calling in all the favors I have left over from Go Live last July.  so I alredy have both the ceif of cartiology and cartiac surgery. pretty much have all the best OR Techs because they all know me from setting up and running their inventory and locations (just hope I dont wake up with sharpie writing all over me).  All the contract managers located the cadillac of the valves so rather then just geting whatever I will hook back up with the manager of the OR to make sure that is ordered ( I tried to find one that would leave a visible glowing ring like tony stark but non on the market yet) So basically all in all I have a hand picked team so the rest just falls to me.

Oh now that i think of it im forgetting about my room need to see who i can call to get a suite to accomidate visitors.

I feel like im planning a trip lol.  Maybe i will dream of a nice vacation spot.

Please do what your doctors advise and take better care of yourself, otherwise the MOM in me will have to come over and open up a can of whoop  ?/moon2..  on you!!!!   %$oldcit

I may do crazy stuff but i do listen to my Doc.  Thank god he says i just have to take it easy for a couple weeks no driving and heavy lifting for a bit.  but as for drinking and eating he said i should be good to do whatever i want.  Prob just a good idea to make sure its not near sharp objects since i will prob be on some sort of blood thinner.

I would say its ok to have sharpie writing on you. its how they point to what needs to be done. those OR rooms get busy and you dont want to be mixed up with a hysterectomy patient :confused04:;

All will be fine, there is always a JackWagen there to make sure some dumbazz tightens down your oil filter, I mean aortic valve. **^bana0

 Hey Ty..
I didn't know.. Sorry and have to ask why you man.. As for the sharpie it's true, in my recent surgery after I got my metro-male gromming "BTW why is it always a young nurse that does it :confused04:;" my surgeon stopped in and took a sharpie out and drew a circle on the area that he was going to operate. After he covered me and left the pre-opp area, I reached into my clothes bag under the strecher and pulled my own sharpie out.. I turned the Circile into a Happy Face.. After the surgery when I woke up and he visited me in recovery he said "Hey I don't remember giving you a happy face... I said you didn't you must have been looking at me Arss...  &^rofl

Hey Hang in there Buddy and stay postive.. It's something that you know has to be done, so don't F with it.. After-all God only made one like you..  clap2-*

as always thanks for the support guys im not going to mess around with this.  about to head out for my echo now which is pretty routine so not expecting any changes in game plan.

Lol i should of been clearer with the sharpie comment its not the labeling of where to cut and what to replace its the five possible nurses in the room who i have paried with drawing a penis or somehting on me like i passed out at a frat party lol.  just like anything in life with good comes the bad so the good here is i will have the best people watching out for me the bad is professionalism goes out the windo on small stuff so once the surgery is done and all is well i am no longer looked at as a patient im back to a passed out buddy with surgical markers in reach.

After-all God only made one like you..  clap2-*
.

thank god right i think the world couldnt stand two of me lol
