Super Beetle parcel tray
« on: March 07, 2013, 11:14:55 pm »

Here it is.  It's smaller than the regular kind.  I still don't know what to do with the black rubberband.  I don't hit my feet on it but guys with clown feet may have a problem.

I am still working on the speaker?  Might just mount it under the tray. It was mounted in one of those plastic boxes on the side under the dash.  I didn't like the set up. It took up too much room.

Martin,
Here is a link to the type of speaker, in a round 6.5", I installed in Herbie's dash. It goes in the original mounting spot. Stereo out of one speaker. It sounds great. 2@cent   I installed the 6X9 in my Nigel project. I also found a great deal on a small Scosche speaker box at Walmart for the rear behind the seat. Kicking for an %$oldcit:

The under dash kick panels won't work with the tray.  I am interested in the 5 inch 2 in one stereo speaker for the dash.   I have a stock radio for dash speakers but I have an amp and kickers in the back luggage compartment. The amp gives the stock unit enough power for the back. So....who can tell me more about this 5 inch speaker?  I found the 6.5 dual voice coil speaker for 79.99 from retro sound?  Mid America has that one.  I can't find the 5 inch one?  Is it better and Cheaper?

This speaker does not work in the flat window Supers. I called retro Sound and they said they would change the description.  The vent system and the Wire loom are in the way. You could use it if you take that stuff out.  So, I went with two 6 1/4 inch speakers in the front plastic kick panels and covered them with stock carpet . I Cut the the parcel tray to fit and redid the wicker.  Now my feet do not hit it when I use the brakes.  I changed the shape to look like this.

Now this is a tray that FITS a Super Beetle with kick panel speakers!!!!

If you see this made by anyone else, REMEMBER that you saw it here first.
