Collingswood Cruise Night, Sept 19, 2013
« on: September 19, 2013, 10:00:42 pm »

My wife and I took the Bug to the Collingswood Cruise Night. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside, watch people and old cars and just relax. Even found a place to get a very good burger!

The Bug got LOTS of attention. It seemed that no matter what kind of cars a person was into, they still stopped, looked and smiled when they saw the Bug. A few stopped and talked, some for quite a while. All had some sort of story to relate about a Bug they once knew - or owned.

I was able to spot only two other Bugs and one Bus. Didn't get to meet the owners of any of them though. Too bad there weren't more, it really was a nice night to be outside.

Yup, piss poor turnout. I had the Westy Rich but didn't see anyone at your car when I walked past.

Yeah, we thought we'd grab a quick burger up the street. Wound up taking an hour. Sorry I missed you.

Good burger though...

The Board was supposed to be going to Collingswood and having the meeting. I got stuck at work and felt bad about missing it.

Nobody was there?

When I got to the water towers around 5:30 I met Mark, and then a few minutes later Michelle (if I'm off on the names please forgive me. I'm horrible with names.) who introduced themselves to me and my wife, Carol. They didn't have their VW's, but they were there. We stood around and chatted for a while before I drove over to the show area. I briefly saw them walk by, but I was talking with a Nash Metropolitan owner at the time and lost track of them. I don't know if the other two Bugs were club members or not. I think the white one was a 73 and the blue convertible was a 72. I think the 72 took a trophy.

Still, Carol and I had a really nice time. The people we met were all friendly and talkative. There is another Cruise Night in October, but I'm pretty sure my car is going to be quite dismantled by then.

It was supposed to be in pieces by now. I've just been having too much fun playing with it!! Tomorrow (actually later today) I'm having someone take a listen to it. It's making an ominous "clacking" noise that sounds heavier than valve train noise to me. It's also vibrating more than I remember as the revs build. So, I think it's time to get started on it.

It's OK to hijack your own thread, right... :confused04:;

Richard- it was nice meeting you and your wife! Glad you guys had a good time. And you did get our names right.

It was gorgeous evening to be out!! The turn out was light for that show but the people that were there were very friendly. Not enough Board members were there for a meeting so a few of us grabbed some great Mexican. Yum!!

Look forward to seeing you and Carol at another event! Good luck with the clicking sound.
