I like the baseball cards in the spokes idea, did it as a kid and drive the neighbors nuts! That would be cheaper unless you use a valuable card.

Now where can I pin a baseball card on my VW ??   drive&&

As for the spokes in the tires, I use to use playing cards. at one time I had like 6 sets of cards on
each side of my frame. It made it really tough to pedal. If you want to fast they would fly off and you'd
have to go back and collect them. Do you remember the little balls that you put on the spokes? They made a really weird sound as they slide down the spoke and hit the rim.

we also tied a half full  balloon to the fender brackets. Didn't last too long but the noise! lets just say the neighbors hated it ! it was fun being a kid in the city!
